Professor in the Technological and Industrial Processes Department since 2011, he is currently the coordinator of the master's degree in process and product engineering. He was coordinator of the Chemical Engineering program from 2011 to 2017. Doctor in Chemical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Celaya. He did a research stay at the University of Maryland with a grant from the Fulbright-García Robles organization developing diffusion and reaction models using the Lattice-Boltzmann method. He also did postdoctoral studies at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav), Guadalajara campus, developing the modeling and control of a solid substrate fermentation system. He has directed and co-directed a doctoral thesis, eight master's thesis, and more than 20 bachelor's final project reports.
His research lines are based on the mathematical modeling and control of complex chemical processes, using different tools such as Artificial Neural Networks. He is currently the leader in a research group that develops impact assessment methodologies for public policies related to air quality in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. As part of this project, forecast models for air quality, dispersion of pollutants, implementation and validation of air quality measurement methodologies and determination of pollutant emission factors are analyzed and generated.
He also collaborates in the applied biotechnology research group in the modeling, simulation, and control of bioreactors. As part of this collaboration, he is working on the design of an optimal system, to produce probiotic microorganisms, from agro-industrial waste.
