PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bonn, Germany, as well as a Master's Degree in Science and Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).
During his PhD studies under the direction of Professor Helmut Baltruschat, he focused on the area of electrocatalysis, specifically on the electrochemical characterization of the monocrystalline surfaces of precious metals that are cut at different Miller indices, for the purpose of obtaining surfaces with evenly distributed stepped defects on which materials such as Ru, Rh and Pd can be deposited in a controlled manner (step decoration) in order to modify their catalytic properties.
He was a professor in the Department of Chemistry of the University Center for Exact Science and Engineering of UdeG from 2000 to 2002, and from 2008 to 2014 he worked as a quality assurance manager at the company Huntsman Textile Effects.
Since 2014, he has been a full-time professor at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO), where he currently coordinates the Undergraduate Program in Chemical Engineering.
